Published by Castelvecchi upon the occasion of the exhibition at Villa Torlonia, Rome, the anthology includes  five essays I wrote on painters Carlo Levi, Roberto Melli, Fausto Pirandello, Pio Semeghini and Carlo Dalla Zorza alongside texts by A. Mosca, A. Mugnaini, L. Boisi, A. Viliani. This collection is also an opportunity to read again rare writings by Carlo Levi, Roberto Melli and Fausto Pirandello.

Co-curated with Angelo Mosca and Maria Ida Gaeta, Director at Casa delle Letterature, Rome, the exhibition and the publication address the historical caesura with a generation of Italian painters, who have traversed the XX century through hidden, unusual routes, creating the conditions for possible, subsequent critical reconsideration of modernity in the present.
